Friday, February 8

the only two times I've loved v-day.

Today I'm linking up again with my bestie Janine for her Finish the Sentence Fridays party. Seeing as the snow here in the Hudson Valley just keeps on getting heavier and falling faster...I figured I best get in at least one other post for this pathetic week of blog posts.

It could go one of two ways. Either we'll lose electric and be stranded in our own house or we'll just be stranded in our own house. I'm hoping to keep the electric as it's our heat source.

Here's to Snowmageddon 2013!!
Ahh...makes me reminisce Snowmaggedon 2010 -- DC Style.

This week's prompt: "The Most Memorable Valentine's Day I Ever Had Was..."

I really don't care for Valentine's Day. I think it's just a crap holiday to make people spend money they don't have. Although I can't hate it too much, seeing as my dad basically runs a flower company and Valentine's Day is one of their top money-makers. So yeah...buy all the flowers you want!

Anyway, even though I don't like it, I do have some pretty good memories based around the holiday. The first would be when I was a kid growing up, my mom used to make up little Valentine bags for my sister and I to open. Kind of like an Easter basket with candy and a few toys.

The second would be in 2011, when I found out I was pregnant with little miss nugget a few days before Valentine's Day. It was bittersweet, since before that I had a miscarriage. I remember taking the pregnancy test and leaving it on the bathroom counter top with a note for my hubby to see. I texted him at work and told him I had an early Valentine's Day gift waiting for him at home. It was an exciting day.

So all you romantics out there...enjoy the big V-Day this year and don't forget to support your local florist!

Friends living in New England and New York...be safe this weekend. And if you live in Massachusetts, don't you DARE drive!! I don't want to see any of you in jail :)

  2. We don't even do VDay gifts. I would rather just go out on a date for dinner but not on the actual day since its overpriced.

Okay it's snowing hard now. Praying you don't lose power.

  4. I am so thinking of you this tonight and hoping that you don't lose your power and praying for the same for us, because I am with you on not losing our heat. It is freezing and truly do not want to be without heat tonight. That said I loved your Valentine's tale of finding out right before about Sophia and agree she was the best Valentine's Day gift you could have ever been given. Thank you a ton for linking up with us again bestie :) :) xoxo!!

  6. Aw, to leaving the pregnancy test for your husband to see. That's so great. And you're in McLean, Va? I'm in Oakton! That storm was crazy...remember how they had to load all of it into dump trucks and haul it wherever it was they took it? That was a shock to me, as I grew up in Colorado.

  7. V-day is a little overrated. I think my only really good one is the one I wrote about. Oh, I also liked the one with my first love...yea, we'll save that for a post on MBH...where the Hubs doesn't read...

  8. Wow, the blizzard could really hurt your father's business this year. Hope that doesn't happen. Not wishing it all on you, but I'm glad the blizzard bypassed Ky. The Valentine's Day bags your mother prepared sounds like a good idea. One way to keep the boys away! I wish my wife and I had known about it when the girls were young. Great post!

  10. I am in MA and I am not driving. LOL. I am being a good girl and staying in even if I am out of chocolate. Ha!

I could take or leave Valentine's Day. Meh. I do love flowers though. :)

  11. Wow! That is a lot of snow. I have several relatives in the U.S.A. who also experienced the blizzard. I hope you did not lose electricity and you and your family are fine. Valentine's Day is just another day for me but it is becoming more and more popular in my country.

  13. I do not envy all that snow at all, I live in GA and it snows here maybe once every 2 years and its like 2 inches at most and everyone loses their minds like it's ten feet's worth! lol

I would love if you came by my blog and linked up at my linky party! :-)
