my happy place.

It's been depressing lately here in New York. Cold, rainy, and gray. It did snow a few weeks ago and I loved it. But now, the snow was plowed, trampled through, and rained on. So it's just a pile of white yuckiness. The sun doesn't make it out too often, and on those days that it does...then it gets dark at 4:30 and well...yep. Gloom city. 

January always has a way doing this to me, making me feel all blah.

After Christmas it's winter blues central.

So it's no surprise that I'm wishing hard for spring and summer. New grass and flowers and birds. And longer days, sheesh! And my happiest of all happy places: the beach.

I associate the beach with being happy because it involves every single piece of life that makes me smile and that I look forward to. Being with my family, relaxing, the boardwalk, spending the entire day on the beach...in the sand, in the water, just taking it all in. The sound of the waves at night and the salt in the air.

Nothing is more peaceful to me. 

Nothing holds more memories.
